Unfortunately as we get older we’re more inclined to put on a
fewextra kilos, especially around the tummy, bum and hips!
This isespecially true for females as we naturally have more
fat tissue than men (for reproductive purposes) and many have had babies so more kilos to lose after each pregnancy!
Here are my top 5 tips to beating the belly bulge:
1. Intermittent fast-wait 12 hours or more before having breakfast from your last meal (dinner).
This makes your body burn fat for fuel more efficiently.
2. Make your first meal of the day (normally breakfast) high in protein to regulate insulin levels, promote thermogenesis (fat burning), and to satiate your appetite so your body doesn’t crave carbs or sugars through the day. Some good fats like avocado and some complex carbs are also ok.
3. Leave a good 3-4 hours in-between meals.
Snacking prevents the body going into fat burning and disrupts insulin levels, especially if snacking on refined carbs or sugars!
4. Reduce/eliminate transfats from your diet.
These include canola, grapeseed, soybean, safflower and sunflower oils. These oils are highly refined and processed and the body can’t process them efficiently.
They contribute to atherosclerosis (stiff, clogged arteries) and heart disease.
Avoid foods cooked in these oils too (hot chips, crisps, deep fried foods, pastries, doughnuts etc).
Replace with extra virgin olive oil, flaxseed oil, avocado oil, sesame oil, coconut oil.
5. Earn your fuel!
Exercise promotes fat loss & builds lean muscle tissue which burns fat more efficiently.
Only eat when hungry & move daily to earn your food.
Core strength work will help with a defined waistline and flatter tummy…do those sit ups!
